Quick plant DNA isolation for PCR

About ten years ago I had a great many plants to screen with PCR, after watching too much CSI I tried squashing leaves onto a variety of absorbent materials. Filter paper worked the best, it was more absorbent than writing paper and was stronger then tissue.

It works for Arabidopsis and Medicago but i had no success with Ricinus. When to opportunity arises i'll try other species.
